we’re checking in from staple manor at TINA – it’s late on saturday night and the nanoworks crew are laying out and we’re printing the 500 copies ready for distribution tomorrow.

here’s some of the things that have been printed today – zines, artists prints, posters, comic books. an amazing array of creativity and lots of people having hands on fun with stencil printing.

freya is from canberra and made this poster this afternoon at staple manor.

jo printed a 2 colour zine about emergency ponchos – buy it at the rizzeria stall at the zine fair.

 paul co-designed the TINA program and then this snazzy print this arvo.

john made this. it’s a zine of ‘musings about being a transvestite metalhead’. also available at the tina zine fair.

Another busy (WINDY) Saturday at the Rizzeria leading up to TINA. Here’s Monique with one of her series of 2 colour artists prints (there’s a set of 5 images – buy them from her at the TINA zine fair). We had the doors shut all day to keep the wind out and the paper safe inside.

Anney and Mechelle were back to print a few final images in time for TINA, and George came by to print another set of body maps for an exhbition he’s installing in Adelaide in a few weeks.

If you check out our booking calendar for this weekend (in anything but Safari…) you’ll see that Saturday is fully booked, but we still have spots for Friday. So if you want to get some last minute printing done before TINA book yourself in!

OPEN PRINT STUDIO

Well, we have gotten underway with the Open Print Studio. Up until the This Is Not Art festival in October, we are are taking bookings for zine makers and other interested parties to print material for the art market on October 4.

We will be running the Open Print Studio from 12-6pm every Friday and Saturday for the rest of September. The Rizzeria is now located at 9 Edith Street, St. Peter’s.  Be sure to book in soon, as spaces are filling up fast already!

August update

There’s been some big changes at The Rizzeria over the past few months; sorry for the absence but we’re hopefully almost back on track.

The big news is that we’ve moved! Our new home is at Workshop Showroom, 9 Edith St, St Peters. It’s an easy bus trip from the city (422) or a train ride and walk from St Peters station.

We’re building some storage and other things in our new space at the moment, and hope to be back up and running for open print studio action by next Friday September 4. Just in time for all the last minute TINA printing to be done, perhaps?

Recent test pressings for “Underwater Outergardens” project for Jefferson South, South Carolina, USA.

I found the RZA printed nicely on metallics, but would only EVER do one print, a second colour was ALWAYS un-doable!!?

Anyone have ideas/ experience around this?

getting ready for the MCA zine fair

Friday’s open print studio was busy with people getting final printing done for the MCA zine fair this Sunday 24 May.

Mechelle came in and had a crash course in pagination and printing on the RZA off the glass, and started printing her zine of illustrations – beautiful line drawings of sweet food. She’s printed the pages in red, black and blue, on a linen-style paper that we found at the back of a cupboard (we have stocks of donated or cheaply acquired paper, often seconds – feel free to drop by on an open studio day to see what we have that you can print on).
